BUS TOURS

Aegialis Hotel & Spa organizes special bus tours to help you discover the many incredible and hidden gems of Amorgos island. 
With the three differents tours proposed, you will enjoy Amorgos from Aegiali bay to the southern spot of the island.
It is an opportunity to explore the different parts of Amorgos corresponding to its ancient districts and cities: Ancient Aegialis (Tholaria, Lagada and Potamos), Ancient Minoa (Katapola and Chora), Ancient Arkesini (Vroutsi, Arkesini, Kolofana and Kalotaritissa). 

Tour Duration : Half day 

The first tour starts with the visit of the 1000 year old Byzantine Monastery of Chozoviotissa, a white lime spot on a thousand feet cliff rising sheer from the big blue. 
It continues with a walk into Chora the capital of Amorgos with its 40 churches of different architecture, the Venetian castle, the wind mills, its historical High School and its Archaeological Museum located in a beautiful 17th century patrician house presenting a collection of various archaeological finds made on the island.
If desired, the tour shall end at the most beautiful beach of Agia Anna, where the famous film "Big Blue" was shot.

Tour Duration : Half day 

The second tour proposes you to discover the different villages of Aegiali - Tholaria, Langada and Potamos.
This tour includes visits to local houses, Byzantine Churches, old wine and oil presses so you can really see the traditions and customs that are still preserved.
If desired, to finish at the beach of Aegiali, or "Agios Pavlos" for a relaxing swim can be organised.

Tour Duration : Full day 

The third tour is an excursion to the southern part of Amorgos, visiting the agricultural villages of Arkesini, Vroutsi, Kolofana. You'll visit the Hellenistic Tower of Holy Trinity, and the church of St. Paraskevi with the traditional facilities of a dining and cooking area for at least 3.000 people where the biggest festival of Amorgos takes place in July.
On the way back we'll stop at the Monastery of St. George Valsamitis which is built on the ruins of an Ancient water oracle, dedicated to Apollo, with a spring still existing in the church.
If desired, the tour can conclude with a swim at the beautiful beach of "Mouros".
